Academic Donating World Championship 2022

Tampereen Rakentajakilta ry is organizing Academic Donating World Championship 2022 in collaboration with Blood Service. This is a playful competition-like teekkari tempaus, in which the objective is to donate as much blood as possible (within safety limits set by health care professionals) as a student association. In this competition, student associations are divided into three leagues based on the number of members. The competition period is 24.1. - 29.4.

Blood donating on Hervanta campus is possible 7.4.

Participation instructions and rewards are in the next pictures. Remember to mention the name of Sähkökilta’s BloodGroup, Skilta, in the interview with the nurse.

Participation instructions:

1. Book an appointment from Blood Services webpage. You can donate at Blood Service’s office or at blood donation event. You can come by yourself or in a small group. You can book an appointment for the group by sending an email to tampere.verenluovutus@veripalvelu.fi. Every donor must have a booked appointment.
2. Fill the health questionnaire at Blood Service’s website on the day of donation or one day earlier.
3. Mention the BloodGroup name, Skilta, in the health condition interview with the nurse.
4. Eat and drink as usual on the day of donation. Avoid heavy meals before donating blood.
5. Please bring an official ID card that includes your Finnish ID number.
6. After donating blood, Blood Service offers you some snack and you can enjoy the good feeling of being a lifesaver.
7. Take it easy for the rest of the day. Avoid exercise, sauna, standing for a long time in the same place, and any strain on the donation arm after donation. Remember to drink more.

Rewards for participants:

• Event overall badge (for the first 500 donors, retrievable during March and April by showing the card which is received after blood donation)
• Blood Service’s overall badges (drop of blood 2022, donator, biobank)
• Possible points for fuksi-, teekkari- and student association’s passports (Blood Service’s stamp or by showing the card you receive after blood donation)
• After the donation: Some snacks offered by blood Service and a good feeling from helping
