To the board of Skilta?

The next board of the guild will be elected in the Fall general meeting on 24.11. As a member of the board of Skilta you can influence Skilta's activities during the year, familiarize yourself with working in a board of an organization, represent he guild, choose the functionaries and get to meet many other people from other guilds. In addition, you will be having lots of fun with awesome people! According to Skilta's rules, the duties of the board include: -Directing the activities of the guild, taking care of the financials and the property and to monitor the adherence to Skilta's rules. -Prepare the agenda to the guild's general meetings and execute to decisions made in them -Prepare a proposal to the Fall general meeting for the action plan and for the budget for the next year. -Decide on matters that are not decided on in the general meetings. -Compose the annual financial statement and the report of activities for the Spring general meeting.

How? The Board Info Coffee is held on the 4th of November at Skilta's guildroom. The Board Info Coffee is on from 12 to 15pm, and the current board will be present to tell about their positions, working in the board and to answer all your questions. At the same time you may announce your interest in being part of the board with the pieces of paper provided in the guildroom by writing your name, e-mail, the position or positions you are interested in and short reasoning on why you should be elected. These pieces of papers will be available for the chair candidates so that they know whom they may ask to their proposal for a board.

Positions Chair of the board The chair of the board is the face of the guild. He/She gives the official statements of the guild and signs the contracts the guild enters to. The chair monitors the board and advises/helps them in their duties. The chair is ultimately responsible for the whole operation of the guild. The chair takes care that the action plan determined by the general meeting is put to action and that the budget holds. The chair of the board devises new ideas and activities and is constantly trying to improve the operations of the guild. The chair of the board is well networked and is in contant with the faculties relevant to the members of the guild. The chair is a person with a systematic and organized approach and has good negotiation and mediating skills. Apply!

Host The host is responsible for the "refreshments" in the guild room and in the events. This includes going to the store and to the wholesale in Finland and also elsewhere. In addition, the host organizes (with the help of the Hostess) approx. 6 Skilta events during the year. Good qualities for the Host include systimaticality and initiative and knowledge. The host has a great share of responsibility in the routine activities of the guild. Apply, if you enjoy liquids and working with your hands.

Treasurer The treasurer takes care of the money traffic of the guild. This includes paying bills, billing, counting the contents of the cash register and all other activities related to money. The treasurer has the clearest picture of the economy of the guild and of the current funds. As a treasurer you get an unparalleled perception of how the economy of a guild works and you learn to see behind the numbers. Apply, if you like to swim in an ocean of money and play with Excel.

Events officer As the events officer you are responsible of the events organized by the guild, such as Intermediate State Middle Degree. You will facilitate the premises for events, the staff in events and the programme. Good qualities for an events officer include being systematic, being able to organize and improvise. Apply as the events officer if you wish to improve the events held by the guild and you like organizing things.

Secretary As a secretary you will write down the minutes of every meeting of the guild in an understandable format. You have to be able to identify the most important things discussed during the meeting and use the keyboard. In addition, the secretary takes care of the archiving of the minutes, presenting all invites (to anniversary parties and such) in the meetings and of course other board duties.

Communications officer The communications officer informs the guild members of events and other things related to the student union, university or studies. He/She composes the weekly newsletters and controls all communication channels such as the e-mail lists, the website and the whiteboards. Good command on IT and graphical skills are a plus. Being fine with writing numerous e-mails during the year is mandatory.

Corporate relations officer The corporate relations officer maintains and develops the guild's connections with companies. The corporate relations officer negotiates contracts with the companies. Other duties include the yearly overalls project and organizing excursions. The corporate relations officer has good negotiation skills and likes to make profit for the guild. As the corporate relations officer, you get a work realm outside the teekkari community and get important contacts to representants of companies.

Guildroom and studies officer As the guildroom and studies officer your duties are separated in maintaining and developing the guidroom and in taking care of the educational affairs of the guild. This officer is responsible of the portfolio of the magazines the guild orders and new overall badges. The educational affairs include being in contant with the staff of the university about lecture notes of different courses and printing and selling them through the guild. This officer will also act as a link between students, the student representativies in the administrative organs of the university and the guild.

Hostess The Hostess takes care of the food upkeep of the guild. The Hostess is responsible of the goods sold in the guildroom as well as in events. The Hostess also takes care of the cleanliness of the guildroom with the help of the rest of the board and functionaries.

Fuksi captain The fuksi captain is the nicest person of the guild, because that is his/hers main job. This is because the fuksis need to get a good image of the first board member they are in contact with. :) The fuksi captain is everyone's buddy and he/she won't leave to fuksis alone to party. The fuksi captain is ultimately responsible of all fuksi activities of the guild.
