Apply for board 2025

Apply for board 2025 is open from 4th November 2024 to 15th November 2024.

Vice Chair of the Board

The Vice Chair runs the Board's recreational activities and internal events, so that the Chair can focus on running the business, bureaucracy and developing activities. The Vice Chair acts as the Chair's right-hand and assists, for example, in chairing a meeting if the Chair is unavailable. Together they can think about the development of the guild's activities, possible board trainings and e.g. evening classes, and general recreation. However, the position of Vice President is new as a separate post, and the person elected has a lot of freedom to develop the job description.

Secretary

As Secretary you will be responsible for the production of the minutes of the guild. You’ll learn the (dirty) secrets behind the operation of running an organization. Alongside the more bureaucratic privileges you’ll get to produce the best events with the most awesome people imaginable and have an effect on things around you.

Treasurer

The Treasurer takes care of the money traffic of the guild. This includes paying bills, billing, counting the contents of the cash register and all other activities related to money. The treasurer has the best knowledge of the economy of the guild and of the current funds. As a Treasurer you get an unparalleled perception of how the economy of a guild works and you learn to see behind the numbers. Apply, if you like to swim in an ocean of money and play with Excel.

Event Executive

The Event Executive organizes different events, everything from sitsit to kyykkä. With the help of three officials the team makes sure that events happen and the event official takes care of the big picture and budget. The best thing about this job is the possibility to use imagination and team work with other guilds. Even if organizing events takes up time at the end it makes me happy if people enjoy the event.

Student Advocate

Student Advocate is responsible for one of the guild’s main functions: safeguarding the educational interests of electrical engineering students. Said with smaller words this means taking part in the course improvement progress, holding on to guild members’ educational rights, and coordinating guild’s student representatives. A good Student Advocate is familiar with the organization of the university and knows what’s to come in the educational sector.

Tutor Executive

The Tutor Executive is the nicest person of the guild, because that is their main job. This is because the fuksis need to get a good image of the first board member they are in contact with. :) The Tutor Executive is everyone's buddy and they won't leave to fuksis alone to party. The Tutor Executive is ultimately responsible of all fuksi activities of the guild. The Tutor Executive is a connection between tutors and guild.

Refeshment Executive

Refreshment Executive is responsible for the refreshments in the guild room and in the events. This includes going to the store and to the wholesale in Finland and also elsewhere. Good qualities for the Refreshment Executive include being systematic and initiative. Apply, if you enjoy liquids and working with your hands. Owning a car is a huge plus considering this task.

Communications Executive

The Communications Executive takes care of the guild's communication outward. This includes a weekly newsletter, emails to members and other guilds and student organisations, social media, websites and event calendar. Although there are many communication channels, the Communications Executive does not update them alone, but is assisted by the Communications Sector and whole board of Skilta. As a Communications Executive, you can have as much or as little to do as you want and can outsource many tasks to the officials. The Communication Sector often includes an IT-guru, who manages Skilta’s webpage, a graphic designer and photographer, who manage social media and an editor-in-chief of Sähkösanomat, who in turn creates Sähkösanomat. The most important task of Communications Executive is the weekly newsletter and the connection with the communications people of other guilds and student organisations!

Corporate Relations Executive

The Corporate Relations Executive maintains and develops the guild's connections with companies. The Corporate Relations Executive negotiates contracts with the companies. Other duties include the yearly overalls project and organizing excursions. The Corporate Relations Executive has good negotiation skills and likes to make profit for the guild. As the Corporate Relations Executive, you get to work outside the university community and get important contacts to representatives of companies.

Food Executive

Food Executive is in responsible of guild room’s refreshments. This includes shopping coffee and sweets in markets and wholesale. Food Executive also organizes possible food sales in happenings. A good Food Executive is an active parent figure of the guild room.
